New: an MCP server for AI. Let your own AI work on your website
We are seeing more and more of our customers build websites with AI, edit their existing websites with AI and even solve problems on their website with AI.
Some more advanced users already have a direct connection between their AI and their site via SSH, but for 90% of people it still means a lot of copying and pasting between our website, the hosting environment, the website files and the AI chatbot.
Thanks to our MCP server, that is a thing of the past: with a direct connection between your WebOké account and your AI chatbot, your own AI now works directly on your website on our server.
- Your own AI works on your website. The AI you use every day can now view and edit your website's code, directly in your hosting package.
- Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Mistral, Claude Code and Codex. Not yet another AI platform: just use your own chatbot.
- Included with WebHost Two, Power Webhost Three and Power Webhost Four. At no extra cost. You simply use your own AI subscription.
- You set the limits. Can your AI only read, or edit as well? Which packages can it access? And for how long? You decide.
- Complete freedom. Have you always had big plans for your website, but not the right know-how to do it yourself? Now you can.
From talking about your website to working on it
Until now, an AI assistant could only talk about your website. It could explain what a file does, suggest a snippet of code or interpret an error message. Putting it into practice was still manual work: copying code, opening an FTP program or DirectAdmin, finding the right file, pasting, and hoping it worked.
The WebOké MCP server changes that. Your AI gets a small, clearly defined set of actions it is allowed to perform on your hosting package. You say what you want in plain language, the AI picks the right action, and the result appears on your website straight away. Exactly what it is allowed to do is decided by our server, not by the AI.
Without MCP
- You ask your AI to create something for your website
- You copy the code
- You look up the right file in DirectAdmin or your code editor
- You paste, test and start again if it goes wrong
With MCP
- You tell your AI what you want to achieve
- Your AI works out for itself how your site is put together
- Your AI makes the change and checks the result
- You simply watch and check
What exactly is an MCP server?
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. On its own, an AI chatbot is a closed box: it can talk to you, but it cannot touch anything outside the conversation. MCP is the open standard that lets an AI connect securely to another system. Compare it to USB-C: one connector that fits every device. Claude, ChatGPT and Mistral all support it.
Our MCP server is one of those connectors. Once connected, the AI selects the right hosting package itself: it can view your website's files, search them and read them. If you grant write access, it can also edit, create, rename or delete them. And it can read your website's error log, so it can see why something is not working and fix problems.
The AI never gets your passwords. It only sees the folder containing your website files, and nothing else: no email, no database, no package settings.
Which AIs does it work with?
With the tools you probably already use. For the chat tools, you paste one address into the settings; for Claude Code and Codex, you copy one line of configuration.
- Claude
- ChatGPT
- Mistral Vibe
- Claude Code
- Codex
Claude works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork. For ChatGPT, you need a subscription that allows you to add your own connectors.
What can you do with it?
Six practical examples, each with the request you could give your AI.
Give your website a new design
Is your site due a facelift, but is the content still relevant? Your AI looks at the current pages, keeps your text and photos and wraps them in a fresh, mobile-friendly design.
Look at my website and give it a modern design. Keep the text the same, but give me tips on where I can improve readability.
From WordPress to a fast static site
Do you rarely update your WordPress site? Have your AI turn it into a static website: the same pages, but lightning fast, without plugins that need updating and much more secure.
Convert my WordPress site into a static HTML site. Keep the design and content of the current site.
Find and fix errors
Your site shows a blank page or an error message. Your AI reads the error log, finds the line causing it and suggests the fix. You say yes or no.
My website has been showing an error message since this morning. Check the error log and tell me what is going on.
Hassle-free maintenance
A broken contact form, outdated text on the contact page, a redirect from an old page to a new one, oversized images. Jobs you keep putting off, sorted in a single conversation.
The contact form is not sending anything. Find out why and fix it.
New pages and copy
A landing page for a promotion, an English version of your site, a news item. Your AI writes the page in the same style as the rest of your site and publishes it straight away.
Create a page for our summer promotion in the same style as the homepage.
Your vibe-coded site online in no time
Have you built a website with AI on your own computer? Then you no longer need to upload anything. Your AI puts the files in your hosting package itself and checks that everything works.
Put the site we just built online on my domain at WebOké.
Under the bonnet: what a conversation looks like
As a user you hardly notice it, but this is what happens behind the scenes when you ask your AI to publish a page. Each line is one action that our server allows or refuses.
- Put a new "About us" page online in the same style as the homepage.
- →pakketten_lijstwhich packages and domains can I see?
- ←response1 package: yoursite.nl (WebHost Two)
- →bestand_lezen/domains/yoursite.nl/public_html/index.html
- ←response4,212 bytes, layout and menu recognised
- →bestand_schrijven/domains/yoursite.nl/public_html/about-us.html
- ←responseSaved (3,870 bytes)
- →bestand_bewerkenindex.html: menu item "About us" added
- ←responseSaved, 1 replacement
Every action is logged and can be reviewed on your connections page. If the AI asks for something outside your package, or something you have not allowed, the server refuses and tells the AI so.
How to turn it on
Connecting takes a few minutes and works the same way for every AI tool: you give your AI the address of our MCP server, you log in to WebOké and you give permission. The MCP server for AI page in your client portal (under My Administration) shows the same steps, with buttons that open the right settings for you.
https://mijn.weboke.nl/mcp- Paste the endpoint
In your AI tool's settings, under connectors or MCP servers. Below you can see exactly how to do this for each tool.
- Log in and give permission
Your AI sends you to a WebOké login screen. Choose which permissions and access you want to grant and set up the connection.
- Start the conversation
For example, ask: "Which websites can you see, and how are they built?" From that moment on, your AI works in your package.
Per AI tool
Claude
claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork- In Claude, open the Customize menu and choose Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector and paste the endpoint.
- Click Connect, log in to WebOké and give permission.
Connecting once is enough for claude.ai, Claude Desktop and Cowork.
ChatGPT
chatgpt.com- Go to Settings, Security and login and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to Settings, Plugins, click the plus button and paste the endpoint.
- Log in to WebOké and give permission. Then enable the connector for each conversation using the plus button in the chat.
Full use requires a Business or Enterprise subscription; Pro and Plus can only read.
Mistral Vibe
chat.mistral.ai, formerly Le Chat- Go to Connectors in the left-hand menu.
- Click Add Connector, choose the Custom MCP Connector tab, enter the name weboke and paste the endpoint.
- Click Connect, log in to WebOké and give permission.
Claude Code
terminal- Run in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http weboke https://mijn.weboke.nl/mcp - Start Claude Code and type /mcp. Choose weboke and log in.
- Your browser opens the WebOké permission screen. Confirm, and you are connected.
Codex
terminal- Open the file ~/.codex/config.toml.
- Add:
[mcp_servers.weboke]
url = "https://mijn.weboke.nl/mcp" - Start Codex. The first time you use it, you log in to WebOké and give permission.
Go to the MCP server for AI page
What does it cost?
Nothing!
The MCP server is included free of charge with WebHost Two, Power Webhost Three and Power Webhost Four. Do you have WebHost One? Then you can upgrade in your client portal in a few clicks; you only pay the difference for the rest of your term. It is worth it :)
We plan to keep this feature free. We do not expect the MCP server to put much extra load on our servers. Should that turn out to be the case, we may cap free usage and let you buy extra usage. For now: completely free.
The only other thing you need is an AI tool such as ChatGPT, Claude or Mistral. The actions your AI performs via the MCP server count towards the limit of your subscription to that AI tool.
Security and privacy
- Your AI never gets login details. No password for your hosting, no password for your WebOké account. You connect with one-time permission on a WebOké login screen, or with an API key that you create yourself and can revoke at any time.
- No personal data. The AI can be given access to your domain's public_html folder and the error log, nothing else. No access to email, databases or other personal data.
- Honest about privacy. Whatever you request through your AI goes to that AI and its provider. We do not see your conversations, and your AI provider sees no more than what you let it read. So choose carefully which package you connect.
What is coming next?
This is the first version, deliberately limited to the most important features. The following is on the roadmap and we will add it step by step.
Some features give more access to personal data. Don't worry: we always turn those off by default. Want to use one of those features? You can only do so by deliberately granting that permission yourself. That way you draw your own privacy line.
- Manage emailCreate email addresses, set up forwarders and set an out-of-office message.
- Edit DNSAdd or change records, for example for a new service or a subdomain.
- Check SSL and domainSee whether your certificate is valid, activate a new certificate and check that your domain is set up correctly.
- WordPress maintenanceRun and check updates for WordPress, themes and plugins.
- Restore backupsRetrieve an earlier version of a file or folder from the daily backups.
- Visitor statisticsAsk how your site is performing and where visitors come from.
- For resellersManage your users' sites, plus more management features.
- Place ordersOrder a hosting package and register a domain name. That way you can put your new idea live straight from your AI chat, without logging in to our site.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be able to code?
No. You talk to your AI in plain language, and it translates that into changes to your website. It does help to know what you want to achieve and to check the result.
Can the AI break my website?
An AI makes mistakes, just like people do. That is why writing is turned off by default, deleting asks for confirmation and we keep a copy of deleted files. If you are having major changes made, make a backup first or ask your AI to make a copy of the page first.
Can WebOké see what I discuss with my AI?
No. We only see which actions the AI performs in your package, for example "file read" or "file written", and you can see these on your page too. The content of your conversation stays between you and your AI provider.
What if I have WebHost One?
Then you can upgrade to WebHost Two in your client portal. You can do so right away; you only pay the difference for the rest of your term.
Does it also work with Gemini?
Not yet. At the moment, Google only allows custom connectors in the United States. As soon as that changes, we will add Gemini.
Can I turn the connection off again?
Yes, at any time. On the MCP server for AI page you can see all your connections and revoke them with one click. Changing your password also automatically disconnects all connections.
