How can I use the MySQL database from my PC?

You have a MySQL database with us on a DirectAdmin Linux server. You can use this database from your PC with a MySQL client. However, you do need to give your PC, or rather your internet connection, access to it.

  1. Log in to the control panel
  2. Choose MySQL
  3. Choose the database concerned
  4. Create a separate user to use for the connection (not required, but better). So choose Create New Database User.
  5. After creating the user, choose Add host at the bottom (under Access Hosts) and enter the IP address you want to connect from.

That is basically everything on the hosting side. On your PC, set the client to port 3306 (default). You should already have the database name and the username. Note that the database name starts with your DirectAdmin account name followed by an underscore (_). Also make sure your firewall does not block port 3306.
