Chapter 11 · 11.2
Tips for working faster in Euro-Office
With a few handy tricks, you can get a lot more out of Euro-Office. Here are our best tips.
1. Control everything with the keyboard using the Alt key
Press Alt once and release it. A letter then appears on every tab and button. Press the letter of a tab, for example H for Home, and then the letter of the button you want to use. Press Esc to go back a step.

Don't see any letters? Check under File, Advanced Settings whether Use Alt key to navigate the user interface using the keyboard is turned on.
2. Use the right mouse button
Right-click on text, a table, an image or a cell. You'll get exactly the options that fit that spot, such as paste, add a comment, a link or paragraph settings. This is often faster than searching through the tabs.

3. Copy formatting instead of setting it up again
Place the cursor in text with the formatting you want, and press Ctrl + Alt + C (Mac: Cmd + Option + C). Then select the other text and press Ctrl + Alt + V (Mac: Cmd + Option + V). With the mouse, use the button with the paintbrush, see Undo, Redo and the clipboard.
4. Paste text without the website's formatting
When you copy text from a website or an email, a strange font or colour often comes along with it. Paste with Ctrl + Shift + V (Mac: Cmd + Shift + V): the text will then take on the formatting of your document. This works in the word processor, the presentation editor and the PDF editor.
5. Work with styles
Give headings in a text document a heading style with Alt + 1, 2 or 3 (Mac: Cmd + Option + 1, 2 or 3). Then you can create a table of contents with one click, and jump straight to a chapter using the navigation panel. See Using styles and headings and Creating an automatic table of contents.
6. Find and replace in one go
Does a name or amount need to change in ten places? Press Ctrl + H and replace everything in one go. Find out how this works in Find and replace.
7. Quick tricks in a spreadsheet
- Alt + = instantly puts a SUM formula in the cell (Mac: Cmd + Option + =).
- F4 turns a cell reference in a formula into an absolute reference, like $A$1. Press again to cycle through the options.
- Ctrl + ; puts today's date in the cell.
- Select a range, type a value and press Ctrl + Enter: all selected cells will get that value.
- Ctrl + 1 opens the window for number formatting.

8. Quick tricks in a presentation
- Ctrl + M creates a new slide, Ctrl + D duplicates the selected slide.
- Ctrl + G groups objects, so you can move them all at once.
- While presenting, use Space, Enter or the arrow keys to go to the next slide. Press Esc to stop.

9. Work in the browser, not on your computer at the same time
If you're sharing a file, it's best to only open it in Euro-Office in the browser. If you also edit it at the same time in a program on your computer via syncing, you may get notifications that the file is locked or has been changed. See Saving or syncing isn't working.
10. Use Euro-Office's own zoom
Zoom with Ctrl + = and Ctrl + - or with the buttons in the bottom right, not your browser's zoom. Press Ctrl + 0 to return to 100%.
