Chapter 5 · 5.5
Creating teams and sharing a folder with your whole team
Do you often share with the same group of people, such as your department, your club's committee or your family? Then create a team. You can then share a folder with the whole team in one go, and anyone who joins the team later automatically gets access to it.
Creating a team
- Open the Teams app via the menu with the nine dots in the top left.
- Click Create a new team.
- Enter a name under Team name, for example "Committee", and click Next. Under Advanced, you'll find extra settings for the team.
- Add members: type their name and select them from the list.

Sharing a folder with the team
- Open the Share tab for the folder.
- Under Internal shares, type the team's name and select the team from the list.
- Choose the permissions and save the share, just as you would for a person (see Sharing with a user from your own Nextcloud).
Everyone in the team now sees the folder in their Files. If you add someone to the team later, they'll also get access. If you remove someone from the team, they'll lose access.
Please note: a shared folder remains the property of the person who created it. If that person leaves and their account is deleted, the folder will also disappear for the rest of the team. Want a folder that belongs to the team itself? Then read Team folders: a shared folder that belongs to the team.
Tip: you don't just use a team for Files. You can also share a calendar, a Deck board or a conversation in Talk with a team.
